Troy "Slam" Slamsky is a viral video guru who is a huge hit on Mespacetube.com. His nagging girlfriend Miranda wants him to take his skills and growing fan
base into the real world and get a job in advertising. She is tired of living in their less than modest apartment, and sees Slam's talent as the ticket out. Slam is only interested in making his short movies, getting stoned with his best friend Harlan "Harley" Lovecraft, and someday visiting Cleveland. After a series of disagreements and the discovery that Miranda is two timing Slam with rich snob Tyler, Slam is suddenly on his own.
He soon encounters the gorgeous Erica. She is a huge fan of Slam and his work. It isn't long before the two are an item. She connects him with her uncle, Johnny Scarano a gentleman's club owner with mob ties.
Slam and Harley go on a full-fledged commercial shooting spree hyping Scarano's club. Slam is suddenly in the money and very much in love with Erica. Slam's produced videos, as well as the one's playing in his mind, are revealed in comedy sketches that are interjected throughout the film.

When Officer Elijah Kane (Segal) and his team of undercover cops discover a new lab drug flooding through the nightclubs of Seattle, they struggle to eliminate it from the streets immediately. As if dealing with a dozen dead ravers isn’t enough, the cops begin to act as security guards for an obnoxious documentarian (Mann).

They quickly become privy to the filmmaker’s arrogance as he attempts to make a film regarding Seattle’s underbelly. “Street Wars” opens with a spectacular chase sequence as the team attempts to catch a criminal who escapes through the city with ease. Jumping from building to building, the perpetrator proves to be a master of Parkour. As the cops witness just how fearless and skillful this man is, they begin to understand what they’re up against. Along with fending off criminals and drug lords, Kane also struggles to ease tension between his team as he works to integrate a new rookie

A coming-of-age story that follows 12-year-old Andy Nichol (Chase Ellison), a bright student who, like most kids his age, will do anything to avoid conflict for fear of suffering overwhelming ridicule and punishment from his junior high school peers. Everyone's favorite teacher, Mr. Simon (Ed Harris), pairs Andy with the school's biggest outcast and social pariah, Stanley, aka "Big G" (Alexander Walters) on a critical term project. Sporting thick orange hair, a head too big for his body and ears too big for his head, "Big G" has been the object of ridicule since grade school. Before long, Andy will learn that there was truly a method behind Mr. Simon's madness as to why he teamed these two up. As the story unfolds, Mr. Simon finds himself the target of a malicious rumor after Principal Kelner (Amy Madigan) suspends a school bully for brutally beating up a female classmate who he thinks has "cooties." When Andy watches "Big G" fearlessly confront the school bully.

SINOPSIS Film The Big Bang (2011) :

The Big Bang is one of the best non-horror / non-science-fiction films I’ve seen in a long time. I don’t know what genre you would technically put it in, but I would probably classify it as a mystery. As you can see from the description below though, there are MANY different elements to the story.

If you are not familiar with The Big Bang, it is a new film starring Antonio Banderas, Sam Elliott, Thomas Kretschmann, Snoop Dogg, Delroy Lindo, and Sienna Guillory. Here is the plot synopsis, courtesy of Anchor Bay Films:

Late one night, Los Angeles private investigator Ned Cruz gets a visit from a recently paroled Russian boxer with an intriguing job offer: find Lexie, his missing girlfriend – and the $30 million dollar stash of diamonds she’s hiding. As Detective Cruz sets out to find her, the clues send him to the city’s seediest corners, from a Hollywood action star with a dirty little secret, to an enterprising porn producer who takes a personal interest in his own work, and a kinky waitress with an unusual fetish for particle physics. Lexie proves to be as elusive as she is beautiful and Cruz becomes obsessed with finding her.

With time running out, Cruz discovers the trail leads to a reclusive billionaire and his physicist, intent on recreating The Big Bang underneath the New Mexico desert. Tailed by a trio of cops also looking to find the missing diamonds, and with the body count piling up, Cruz soon realizes that what appeared to be a standard missing person’s case is anything but, and could quite possibly bring about the end of the world as we know it.

Wow…how can you not be intrigued by that synopsis!

I love this film. It is one of those rare gems that is written well and then executed flawlessly. It keeps you guessing, right up to the end. And the twist…wow…I can honestly say I didn’t have a CLUE that it was coming. Very nice.

The cinematography in The Big Bang is excellent, with many angles reminiscent of the styles used in Sin City and even 300. And visually, it is a beautiful film. There’s quite a bit of CG used in certain scenes, specifically for the skyline and night sky shots. But it works very well and the result is fantastic, especially on the Blu-ray version.

The cast is superb as well, with Antonia Banderas bringing his recognizable blend of dark wit and slight stoicism, and Sam Elliott offering a passion-fueled performance to compliment him. I enjoy both actors a great deal, and it is refreshing to see Sam Elliott in a more modern role (I think he is sometimes stereotyped in the cowboy mold). Not to mention Robert Maillet, who is one of the biggest, scariest guys in Hollywood today…he is perfect, playing the Russian boxer.

And the story…it is amazing. I never imagined that particle physics and a mystery of this sort could ever be intertwined. Writer Erik Jendresen weaves together a tapestry of intrigue that borders on the surrealistic. I found myself marveling several times at the ingenuity within the plot. You don’t see films like this very often.

If I were forced to find a negative about The Big Bang, it would probably have to be the casting choice to use William Fichtner as Poley. I like Fichtner as an actor, but I think he is overdone in this role. He is somewhat top-heavy with his delivery style and can be overbearing on-screen. While this attribute is only slightly seen in this film, it is enough to stick out for me.

But with that aside (and that’s very, very minor), The Big Bang is a powerful movie that will draw you in and keep you asking questions all the way through. I don’t see how you can walk away from this film without being entertained on some level. It is smart and inventive, a welcome addition to the mainstream do-overs that seem to be plaguing Hollywood these days.
